Work from home jobs?

Hello everyone

Anyone know any good ways too make money from home? Data entry? Anything like that?

I've tried people per hour and it seems a bit of a con.

I can put in a few hours per day so don't mind what it is but need to stay in to look after my son

Thanks

What about buying and selling on eBay? Amazon ?

Or if you're into cooking and stuff. Get trained on making birthday cakes etc. Nice little business .

I've been looking on Alibaba. It seems too easy to buy a phone charger or case at 10p and sell it on eBay for a 5er. I must be missing something but can't work out what.

Not thought of cakes or other bits. Wouldn't you need health and safety certificates and other bits?

Careful buying stuff in bulk from China, you’ll get hit with import tax or other charges if you’re unlucky enough.

I know people who have used Ali Baba in the past with success. Just make sure you buy from a verified seller.

In terms of cake I really doubt you will need it. But I'm no expert in this field. But I've seen a rising demand for customised cakes over the last few years.

If you know of any other families in the area then child minding would be an option, another 1 or 2 kids should be manageable i'd guess?

I used to do a bit of buying and selling on ebay, I made decent money from it, however the packaging and then going to postie was an absolute ballache.

Don't think it's going to be as easy as buy for a quid and sell for 2, especially seeing as you have to be home for a majority of the time by the sounds of it.

Me too, packing and shipping was a pain, as I worked 40 hours in another job too.

The biggest issue for me with Ebay is how much the greedy bastards took of your profits. I think few people realize until they try.

The feedback system they have in place can also ruin you. You can be top notch, but you will always find one thick asshole giving you grief or trying to rip you off.

Paypal usually backs up the buyer first.

Hence, I jacked it in. Was doing ok, but to actually make a living from it is tough.

I am free most mornings until lunch time. I've heard of people having there online shops closed due to fake feedback aswell.

Luckily I could pack in the mornings and have a post office 30 seconds walk.

If you are selling phone cases or such, sure chuck in padded envelope and send. When you have to package larger items it becomes annoying as anything.

Back when I was doing it I got around ebay's rip off fees by listing the item for 0.99 and then packaging for 9.99.

That was almost 15 year back mind and they have wised up to this now by putting limits on P&P by default.

If you are creative customized phone cases are a good way to go, make sure you appeal to a good market. I'd try some OVO type designs - get their logo owl layout and spray paint it in gold onto a black case.

I would imagine however the market is saturated for phone cases.

As you have free time another approach is to look for games, dvds, blu ray job lots out there - gumtree. Then calculate if you can make a margin by re-selling to CEX.

This is possible but takes time, effort and the returns might not be worth it. However there is money to be made from it no doubt.

If you're good with structure, emails, excel, word etc then look at being a "Virtual Assistant". This is basically being a support person for perhaps a sole trader who doesn't need a full time assistant but someone on a casual basis each week. Have a look at this for some ideas, it may state "wife" but it's not gender specific and no reason a male can't do the same roles. https://theworkathomewife...ervices-you-can-offer/

Dont go down Ebay route i have 200+ listings a month its  more time consuming than it appears unless you find a niche area your  fighting  other sellers  working to wafer thin margins

I think J. K. Rowling has this covered.
