Wot's inside muscles?

OK we workout, follow a reasonably(!) strict diet, learn and train correctly, possibly some of us might use chemical enchancement too and learn loads from MT.

Our muscles grow.

Bit of a medical question I know but when our muscles increase due to observing the above what ACTUALLY inscreases inside the muscle? Is it extra blood, extra skin or whatever?

Cheers

MD

As I understand it (biology not my strong point ). Muscle fibres/cells grow in size. The use of drugs like IGF can increase the amount of cells also. You will increase capillaries within the muscle, for blood flow, IIRC this happens particularly with cardio exercise, so that will have an affect on size also. The blood flow from the 'pump' is temporary.

think its something to do with when you workout you tear the muscle fibres so when your resting it grows back but with more layers ect...

You can thicken the muscle fibre (adaption), you can breakdown and replace the fibre and you can split or double the fibre (hyperplasia I think).

There is also changing of predominant muscle fibre type.
