Would you buy out of date / expired whey?

A place online near me has some whey that is expiring at the end of Jan 2015.

Would you buy it or best to steer clear?

Its Gaspari and MuscleTech and is 50% off, down to £10 for 2lbs / 907 kg.

Cheers.

Personally I'd have no qualms using it. So long as it's stores in a cool dry place and stays sealed, should be fine.

Why not share the wealth in the offers thread aswell

I would have no concerns about using it either.

Dolphin fitness had A load of Cell Mass and No Xplode that went out of date soon at around 10 a tub.  Bought the no xplode
and cant see any reason not to use it, its sealed, so crack on, its the same as a can of baked beans that's a few months past the date.

No.

Simple reason its not that cheap . £10 for 907g. So thats £50 for 4.5kg ish  you can get a better price than that off a bulk supplier and in date. Both makes arnt particularly good and the least said about MuscleTech the better.

The out of date doesn't bother me but for that I want a proper deal.

Edit

Just looked on the bulkpowders website. They have 20% off at the moment on their whey.

5kg is £47.75, fully in date probably last for the next 2 years or do I want 5kg of out of date MuscleTech for £50?

No Contest.

For me it depends on how out of date it is. If it was a couple of months, cheap and it was in a sealed tub I would have no problem. I find a lot of out of date products are not really that cheap. I always have a good scout around for a bargain and say something costing £45 in date is usually only £38 out of date. Not really a massive saving. I read somewhere that some products can keep for a year or two based on their profile. As long as its sealed and not been exposed to the elements. Thats a little too long for me.

As above, this still only makes it in the range of, but not as good as, the bulk suppliers, so not this offer, but no reason to not buy others past expiry date.

muscletech etc have so mmany ingredients in their whey, i tend to avoid, over 20 the last time I counted, they also have ''amino blends'' in them, so I choose to keep it simple.

No issues if it was stored by myself or a trusted seller

not really, if it was sealed in and oxygen proof container, ie, foil pouch, it can last for a very very long time.
2 things are required for things to go off/rot, air and water, without the 2, nothing happens, it will eventually change in nutritional value, but not by much.

there are a few studies out there on MREs, which while a different product, are still relevant, can't remember where I have stored the link just now.

Yeah I would. It's only 907g so won't last long anyway.

I would pay good money to see the science behind that.  I.E what a load of absolute bollocks.

Yes and would, all day long.  Some of the whey I'm using now expired in Aug 14.

That's not a deal though.  You can buy in date whey for 10quid a kilo from most places when they do a minor deal.  Plus gaspari uses ****ty protein.  Brown rice much?
