If the fridge beating is a no, then maybe some door smashing?

I would actually keep it simple and all go have a few drinks at a decent bar. Maybe go for a meal first. That way if anyone doesn't like bars then they can still come for the first part of the evening. Then the night owls can go on to a bar

    Hammer throwing events

You'll never live it down will you mate

Needs to be something where you can interact and maybe build relations so some form of sporting activity that all can join in with. Rounders and cricket are usually fun. Go Karting is another but it's a solo event. The main thing depends on what sort of budget per head you're looking at and remember no matter what you organise it will never suit them all

    Good point Kitty.
If you can arrange an afternoon rather than just the evening then a treasure hunt is a laugh.
Sounds silly but we did one last summer around London with the finish being in a bar with all the teams having to arrive by a set time. Was good fun plus you work in teams rahter than having no interaction.
There are companies that can arrange it all for you but if you do the planning yourself the cost is practically nothing, leaving your budget for the drinks at the end

went on one recently which included clay pigeon shooting, archery, 4x4 driving, quad biking and off road buggy driving- was well received by most and the variety of events meant that people not so good at one thing were better at others etc so people didn't feel out done. Various companies about that do this sort of thing, but as Kitty says you'll never please everyone....
