id love a vxr but that would mean alot of debt so its a no go. the sxi/sri seems like a decent car to me and will be faster and cheaper to run than what i currently drive a 306 dturbo

what i want from it is something cheap, reliable and not 13 seconds to 60 like my 306 the dti is 10 which was the main attraction, the lower road tax and better fuel economy is a nice bonus

The natural alternative would be the Mondeo.  I've not driven one myself but it's commonly known that they handle well and fun to drive.  The higher output diesels are also fairly quick.  I couldn't shake one in my wife's old 120d (which I think was 160bhp IIRC).

Vectra and fun are two words that don't go together.

Yeah, get a Mundano instead. You know that advert where the cuddly toys driving Vauxhall's keep shouting "COME ON"? Well this is a true representation of what it is like to drive one!!

What year are you looking at Lee.  I've got an 02 1.8 SRI and it flies, was the quickest car I could have got on insurance, 0-60 in 8.5 according to Parkers.  However am looking for an upgrade now I'm 21.

My brother had one a few years ago.  Did everything he needed it to do, got him to work and back pretty cheap.  Was totally powerless, felt quick but wasn't.  He got rid after the fuel pump packed in and was gonna cost too much to fix.  Sold it to my mate who fixed it himself and now it's scrap
