anyone use betfair?

Anyone here use it? I've seen a few people mention it.

Does anyone act as the bookie?

Does anyone make money consistently from it?

Are the forums there worth bothering with?

cheers

dont think many people are going to give you their tips if they consistently make money from betfair, will keep it to themselves.

unless your just seeing if its possible

and ive done it in the past and will do when the football season starts

yeah I don't expect anyone to give me a how-to guide

I like trading and maths anf figures etc. so it interests me as a hobby really and if there's money to be made then that's a nice bbonus.

It can be good fun trading on sports where the market sways alot during play such as tennis and basketball, you can do quite well with pretty low risk when you get used to it, used to do the best on nba basketball and womens tennis just using the scoreboard, not knowing anything about the sport lol.

You can try trading a lot but its time consuming and you may find margins are low.  You still have to take risks like a normal bookies if you are looking for bigger profits I think.

I used to spend a lot of time on it, not so much now but it can be fun as long as you've thought through what you are doing.

As Galenkia said, Holte_ender is the man for this. Only last week he withdrew £7000, leaving him 2 grand to mess about with.

    Allegedly.

anyone can win with betfair but its all about discipline, which i bet 90% of punters dont have.  i never bet more than 5% of my bank. So i'm never gonna lose it all fast.  i dont make much, but i know people who make a living from it and no longer have mortgages etc.

You just need to have very good knowledge of the sport you're playing with

Not really, a few good wins on golf and stuff like that, but I didn't really have patience, plus I just don't like betting on racing which I'd say is a lot  money is to be made (if you know what you are doing).  I found same with poker, I just didn't have time to turn the strategy into money so ended up playing loose and not winning as much.

Well, to a certain extent, yes. He took a few a screen shots of his account. There are a few jelous people that disbeleive him of course, I had the same when I was cashing 5k in poker tournaments, if people havn't done it themselves they think it's bull

I agree mate, I usually enjoy a gambling thread, but I find its usually ruined by people who are either not interested in gambling or who just want to shoot someone down.

I think most people got p1ssed of because he only posted AFTER the end of the match/final about his winnings and bets.Easy to claim this and that afterwards. If he posted his stakes beforehand then people would have believed him. Also he never posts his losses.

BTW,he posted one screenshot of one win.Yet claimed to win every time.

He posted a balance of £9,000 though, so on the face of it I'm prepared to accept that he wins occassionaly.  He told everyone about how he had £3000 on federer before the final, to win £300. Give the guy a break

    On it pretty much everyday.

Acting as the bookie is just laying bets.

Few make regular returns on betfair... chasing bets are the biggest threat. If you can accept a loss and understand odds/probability you stand a good chance.

Average Joe in the street won't look for value when placing a bet... just pick their "fancied" winner and back it irrespective of the odds. Value bets are what you need to look for... where the price to you seems "wrong."

Rugby, boxing, American sports are all good forums... the football one is a joke!

That Federer bet is the only one he has posted up before the match, but it was a 1/10 shot! And it very almost lost as we all know!

The point is I have had runs in the past where I've built up a balance to several thousand. Sometimes I''ve withdrawn, sometimes I've blown it. But I've never felt the need to come on here like Billy Big-Bollocks trying to show off and bigging up my wins. I'm honest enough to say I don't win 'em all and modest enough to realise most people don't give a sh*t anyway!

He seemed to join this board purely to carp on about what winning bets he'd had that day. No-one cared!
