been taking dnp but just found out 4 weeks pregnant

right,

as noted in the subject line - a friend (clearly not me) has been taking dnp for some months and lost a shed load of weight. her body temp has never gone above 36 degrees even on dnp. but she's now had a positive pregnancy test and is worried that the effects of the last 4 weeks of dnp will have damaged the foetus.

does anyone KNOW FIRST HAND if this is a possibility?

in animal tests dnp has show to slow foetus growth rated but not actually resulted in defects at birth. no human data is available so i'm posting on here to see if anyone actually knows a female body builder who has taken dnp and later found she was pregnant and what was the end result?

mods = please fire this into whatever section it's most applicable to as my friend is 4 weeks in and would like as much info as possible as soon as possible

cheers

You already know the answer to your question:

    no human data is available

Nobody knows, and DNP is obscure enough as it is, a pregnant woman on DNP is awfully specific. Obviously when in doubt stop immediately, if she wants the child that is.

As far as I know, DNP doesn't have any permanent effect. But I know very little because there's very little to know, some very rudimentary scientific data decades old and people's experiences with it (and DNP users are pretty rare).

she's stopped already and i'm asking because she's considering whether to keep on going or abort. a decision which is better made sooner rather than later.

if the baby were to be born disabled or damaged as a result of the dnp i believe she wants to abort but i can't actually find data to confirm this.

Your friend will just have to tell her GP and hope he/she can find out any info from medical journals etc.

4 weeks is very early on to consider there being a big enough risk to the foetus/child to consider abortion. As said, there simply won't be the information out there to judge by but she can certainly get additional monitoring and scans if a risk is considered to be there.

Can appreciate how stressed she must feel and nothing can remove that until things present themselves favourably but personally I would not be anticipating the need to abort right now.

there's nothing in medical journals - i get the british medical journal and lancet every month and as a result have access to their search feature and there is fook all out there

cheers man, i can't find anything to suggest aborting right now is the answer. monitoring yes but if the foetus is growing at a normal rate then i'd think all was ok. just wondering if anyone knew a female body builder who'd found herself in a similar situation or maybe one of the members wifes/gf's.

that's a fookin impressive pic btw - wasted only by the urinals in the background lol
