best grip/hand placement for bench...
I live in New York, am 16 almost 17 and training for my senior year of football. i got my bench up to 225 right before the season started. Now that im going back to heavy training, i need a little help for my bench grip. The resident meathead on the team (he weighs 270, benches 350) grips the bar with his index finger right on the nerling (sp?). I just started, and there is a piece of athletic tape, 1-1.5 in long, on the edge of the nerling, and ive been putting my index finger there. Is that an ok grip? My dad does it very wide, but the meathead said its prob good since i play line to have a closer grip for more power with my punch. Im not sure what to do. Any tips?
Oh, and maybe a bench routine of yours to see if mine is alright? My grip is my biggest worry though.
