I think ideally you should be looking at 5 stars for UVA/UVB protection.
I've used the Malibu Dry Oil spray before - it's cheap and cheerful....it does spray on easily and leaves no oily/greasy residue. To be honest I found it convenient to use as well as a cream/lotion, just to spray on after swimming etc - when you're covered in sand it's easier to use a spray-on isn't it, rather than try and rub in lotion over sandy bits ouch!
