blob/block weight - what weight and what kind?

Been thinking of getting one of these "blob" block weight thingies, york dumbell heads cut off etc.

Firstly, is it worth it? It costs 1.13 quid per kilo... Should i just settle with alternatives like sandbags, stones and so on?

If I would buy one, what weight would you guys recommend? 25kg or 30kg dumbell? If i cut the heads off the individual blob would weight 30kg/2 - the weight of the handle. Even that doesn't sound much but with grip training i'm getting used to these deceptive weights...

Any input would be greatly appreciated!

I wouldn't bother if I was you. Just make yourself a pinch block made out of wood that you can load with weights.

You've already got a loading pin, so all you need is a little block of wood and an i-bolt so you can load it.
