cardio help

im just starting to get into doing some cardio
my main goal is fat loss then getting fitter but as im unfit now even moderet cardio
makes my heart rate go over the fat burning level
should i not worry about this for now and just do it at the pace i have been so when i get fitter my heart rate will drop doing the same exersise?

also im crap at running because my fitness is bad what i have been doing is running for a while till i get out of breath then putting it on a fast walk till i feel i can run again then running,
i have been doing this for 10 mins then using a bike for 5-10 mins

sorry for all the Q's

It will really depend on just how unfit you are.

When coming back into fitness i would generally start by using my exercise bike for 3-4 weeks to build upto a level that would then allow me to start road running again. On the exercise bike it is far easier to vary the intensity.

Although if you do want to run straight away then yes, i feel the method of jogging a bit then walking a bit and just building it up slowly is beneficial.

Do bear in mind though that training for fitness does'nt always go hand in hand with fat loss.

hi purplepaul. the fat burning zone is a myth. the best way to lose fat is to mix up your workouts. slow, steady state after weights and hiit at other times is a good example. anyone that feels they need to train in the fat burning zone all the time, i strongly recommend they read the following article............ http://www.naturalhealthweb.com/articles/Kearns3.html

Yes my anti virus system felt compelled to shield me from any literature that does not concur with AM steady state cardio as being best for fat loss.

do agree with franky a little here, post weight i like to do some cardio at around 70%hr and then on off days do hiit. Haven't been able to do it like that recently due to work but i'm stayin in a hotel on a course for 3 weeks and then goin straight on holiday, hopefully get time to hammer the cardio a bit more before i go
