casein

I understand things like whey would be best used in combination with maybe fats or something to help slow it down, but what about casein? If I had this pre bed would it be fine in water or would need to mix with a touch of milk or something else?

    No.

Casein on its own with healthy fats before bedtime, is absolutely fine for a nice slow release meal.
