champions league/Europa league

Looking at the Liverpool forums today, most dont seem fussed about them resting players last night... If my team rested players in the champions league id be absolutely raging....especially with a big club like Liverpool.

Even in the Europa when mid table clubs rest players. Id be well pissed off. Those teams are nver going to win the league so the Europa league would bring a lot of excitement for me. Even though Celtic haven't made the champions league this year I still enjoy the Europa.

I think it was a good decision, Rodgers knew they were never going to beat Madrid in a month of Sundays so the game on Saturday against Chelski is crucial for their season.

Lose that and they virtually kiss goodbye to a possible top 4 finish again and this will let in Man U. I still think Chelski will beat them with Liverpool's dodgy defence although the makeshift side did very well against Madrid.

you never know in football though. I didn't think Celtic would beat Barcelona in the champions league 2 years ago but we did. And you dont see the teams in the bottom 3 bending over to the top teams ( not very often anyway)

Ive lost all respect for them now...i know their badge is in my sig but im pretty nutral for English teams, as i tend to support the German and ex Celtic players mainly

I think Rodgers was right to do what he did.  Rest Gerrard, drop the ineffective Ballotelli for a more hungry striker in Borini and send a message to the others even in a massive game that no ones place is assured and they have to fight for it.

Personally the Liverpool team that played last night was better than the  first team that was completely played off the park at Anfield.

This although I would have started sterling and possibly Gerrard.

As for the rest they deserved to be dropped!

If you love something let it go,if it comes back to you it's yours,if it doesn't it never was.

Dont think getting beat off Chelsea will rule them out of getting a top 4 position. Its still early and I think when Sturridge is back that will make a world of difference in the team and Ballottelis performance. He played well with Sturridge in the only game they played together at Spurs.

Teams are not worried about Liverpools attack at the moment without Sturridge and his pace. So when he is back they wont be as adventurous in attacking there dodgy defence so will most likely help them
