competing, with scars ?

Hey guys, hope everyone is well !!

I'm hoping to compete in may, but i have quite a few scars on my tummy (6 that are visible) due to operations, and i was wondering if that would go against me for my overall look? i'm really worried about it and it's getting me down. (i'm competing in body fitness)

Any advice on this would be much appreciated guys !!

It's hard to say either tbh especially without knowing what they look like and how they willo look once tanned etc, though what i will say is that you've come this far only a couple of months out from your show, dont let hang up's you have stop you from stepping on stage.

At the end of the day present the best you, you can. Focus on dialling in as the mental side of dieting doesnt need any excuses to make things harder as it is!

Good luck with your show :-)

Thankyou,  They are quite small, when i tan they go darker and blend a little better.

It's hard not to focus too hard on them, they have been my biggest worry for a long time.

Thanks again, i've worked so hard im not going to let them stopping me competing, but i'm scared of other people seeing them, i suppose we all have our flares, i think i'm just having a bad day.

You shouldn't be marked down for scars unless they interfere with your symmetry/obscure condition/etc. People aren't marked down for tattoos, this is no different really.

As above, get your head down and just bring your best. Also, tan will hide a lot

    Depends on the scar etc....

If its pretty major then yes you should be marked down on it IMO.

I have a pretty bad scar, its one reason i'd never compete.

Roelly Winklar has scars on his stomach and also tri. he has done ok.

    Good luck.

yeah, im curious too why you think scars 'should' be marked down.

if you're going to do that then you might as well mark someone down for being short, or having a big nose, or anything else that doesnt relate to time and effort put into the sport in the gym and in the kitchen

why should scars be marked down?
i competed against a guy with his bicep torn off one end and he placed above me so scars are not considered IME.

i have hernia op scars on my stomach, multiple stretch marks as well, they fade with tanning but not to be concerned about.

You got marked down for being U-G-L-Y IB

Presumably each federation has some sort of judging guidelines on this sort of thing?

Awesome pic, but Tony you're not doing yourself many favours posting up tips on preventing the gag reflex and then a picture of a guy touching his toes - Ak

I'm pretty positive that there isn't a single fed that would actively mark down for scaring?

That say, I do agree, you need some guyliner for your next show IB

I think they use a scale assigning a number between 1-10 depending on how many times it looks like you've been hit with the ugly stick....

Again like i said IF it's pretty major then it should be looked at.
It can interupt flow, mess up symtery etc...
If its just a small scar then sure thats fine as many people compete and do well with small scars.
However if all else is equal and you had a noticeable scar and the other guy/girl didn't then as a judge i'd give them the nod.

I understand your point .. they don't mess up my symmetry, im just conscious about them, the biggest visible one is about the size of a 50p piece.

    I appreciate your comments !

Nah in all seriousness go for it. I'm sure you'll get plenty of help from people on MT in general, but especially if you get advice from those who know what they are talking about they will tell it to you straight. There will be no yes men. You only need to read the journals of IB, Welshy, Rack, the list goes on.
