1988 bulgarian olympic training routine


mon wed fri am

front squat max 2x1 drop 10kgs 3x1
rest 15 mins
snatch max 2x1 drop 5kgs 2x1 drop 5kgs 3x1
rest 15 mins
clean and jerk max 2x1 drop 5kgs 2x1 drop 5kgs 3x1



mon wed fri pm

snatch same sets as am
rest 15 mins
clean and jerk same
rest 15 mins
back squat same as front squat principle


tues thurs sat am

front squat same 2x1 drop 10kgs 3x1

power snatch 2x1 2x1 3x1

power clean andn jerk


tues thurs sat pm


back squat max 2x1 drop 10kgs 3x1

snatch pulls 5x5 10 kgs above previous days best snatch

clean pulls 5x5 10kgs above previous days best clean and jerk


sunday rest !!!!!!

i did a watered down version of this training twice a day at weekends less squating day off in week and once a day weekdays squated twice when i felt good did power lift when i didnt

apparently they did two heavy weeks and one light week the light week was the same maximum lifts they just drop 10 and 10 on the comp lifts and 20 on the squats please dont try it there obviously crazy. i saw a 56kgs lifter full squat on the back 260kgs no super suit or wraps rubbish either

    compared to you guys i eat very poor i should eat a lot better

    shredded wheat or oats

    chicken turkey or fish

    rice jacket potatoes beans or tuna

    minimum bread

    fresh veg

    basic foods try not to eat pizza chips burger etc
