culinary mistakes

what meals have you made that have been absolutely awful? or on the other hand really nice?

BAD: last week I tried to make a chilli con carne in a slow cooker. don't ever do that, it dissolved into a horrible mushy mess, tasted rank but it was a weeks worth so I still ate it ha ha

good: I often mix a tub of quark in to my porridge, bit of honey. lovely

Bad: low suger protein ice cream, came out all crystallised and icy

Good: pancakes made with 2 eggs, mashed banana, scoop vanilla whey and tablespoon ground almonds. I was really surprised how nice they were!

In an early relationship my then girlfriend, who was a vegi but not a pain in the ass vegi. offered to roast me a chicken.

She under cooked it, left a bag of giblets in it and cooked it upside down.  The resulting horror nearly turned me vegi.  Thinking about it, this might have been the plan.

Nothing I do in the kitchen is bad

Chocolate digestive, peanut butter, marshmallow, another chocolate digestive biscuit for the best 'sandwich' ever.

Cottage cheese, white chocolate whey, strawberries.

Fry off some red thai paste, add some chicken stock, add some chicken, add some veggies, add some noodles, add some soy sauce and some grated cream of coconut - awesome soupiness

If you have kids, keep all the crusts you cut off. Cube them up. Butter a dish, add the crusts for a layer, sprinkle over blitzed dark chocolate and mixed dried fruit, add final layer of cubed crusts. Blend up 8+ eggs with some milk and a generous scoop of whey. Pour over, leave to soak in for a few hours. Bake covered for 30 mins and then uncover for a further 15

Cant say I have ever cooked anything bad myself in the kitchen apart from occasionally overdoing the spice. However for the BBQ had some shockers mainly when i started out now I'm quite decent. Beer butt chicken was one such failure just tasted like ****e. For anyone not in the know you get a beer can drink half then stick up the ass of chicken and put it on the BBQ. Tasted rank.

Also grilled some fresh squid and tbh they would happily have passed for rubber dog chews.

    In a freezer 😀

I know proper icecream makers keep churning it while it freezers. I don't have one so I thought if is gave it a good hard beating every 20minutes it would work. But it didn't.

made a lasagne on friday but opted for 'cheesy sauce' in place of the betchamel (white sauce) , what a mistake it was horrible, none of us could eat it

3 years ago as a post workout meal tried plain tuna with plain couscous...

    Brutally bland!

Too many disasters to mention! Intend not to use recipes and just mix stuff together on the fly. Never really tastes like I'd planned.

Biggest blunder was not noticing the polystyrene tray my pizza was sitting on and leaving the pizza on it while I cooked it.

For something that worked better than expected, try mixing a spoon of peanut butter into hot freshly cooked couscous. Used to have that with tinned tuna all the time for a quick simple meal, and it wasn't as bad as the previous post says that just couscous and tuna is!
