I think with these things , the execution of the trick is an art in itself , so much so that you could almost say it DOES become magic !!  i.e.  Joe Bloggs could "do" the trick , and it looks like someone doing a trick , whereas a good magician would make it looks unbelievable.
I have a mate who is very passionate about what he does , He did Ninjitsu , and worked up to a point where he simply cannot progress anymore (15th Dan)  ,  and I remember how he could use subtle movements of his fingers to knock me off my feet or cause me excruciating pain !  to anyone watching it barely looked like he was movin !  .....  He came into the gym last week to show me his new hobby , which is magic  - and I think the things he learnt from the Ninjitsu play a huge part in his magic ,  He showed me loads of card tricks  -  Some of them I could guess "Ah yes , you put that card back on top"  .... but I couldn't SEE him do it , I could only guess that is what he did !
Of course I am not saying he uses ninjitsu in his card tricks , but it is the same control of subtle movements and distractions that you do not realise are happening that makes the tricks amazing IMO

Brucieflea already said it. It's called the Balducci method, google it. And for the most impressive shots he is standing on a wire.

I've seen it done by standing on one set of toes so you can't see them but from memory Blaine does it with the camera in front of him.
