The Babadook is excellent - the trailer makes it look like just another creepy kid is haunted film, but it's far more.

Very smart, thought provoking and one of the few genuinely scary modern horrors.

Even better, but less pure horror, is Under the skin. I think it's the best British sci fi horror since Alien. Amazing film, and Scarlet Johansson is naked in it :D

I thought Babadook was poo!! Not scary in the slightest!! Just glad I didn't go the cinema to watch it!! Insidious I thought was more entertaining but still not scary!! In fact I can't get scared at many horror films as I know they're not real LOL I hate gore and still wait for the day that a genuine decent horror film comes to our screen!

You seem a fan of the genre, you have probably seen most that are worth watching.

    How about Housebound?

Not as good as what has been mentioned but worth a watch if you are looking to fill a boring evening.

LOL, NotForTheWeak that's mean!! LOL!!! The best for me to date to spook me has been the original Amytiville Horror and knowing it was supposedly based on a true story helps with the spookiness!! My hubbie claims an original film from 1963 called The Haunting (remade with Liam Neeson and Catherine Zeta Jones) is the best one yet!! I've not seen it so can't comment!! I also actually enjoyed The Woman in Black!! We saw that at the flicks and laughed more at everyone jumping at it than being scared ourselves!!

Deliver Us From Evil with Eric Bana was pretty good

I thought the Babadook was good. Saw Deliver us from Evil the other night, although slow to get going it was good towards the end.

The latest Amityville was one of my favs, exorcist is pretty grim, sinister was good.

Paranormal activity would freak your misses out I reckon.

There's so many, Texas chainsaw massacre etc.

If you love something let it go,if it comes back to you it's yours,if it doesn't it never was.

the loved ones. great little indie film.
borderlands . if ya enjoy found footage this is pretty creepy.
Pontypool. not really scary or jumpy but a great film and quite original.
Or ya could get into the series American horror story which is excellent .

The Babadook was much more layered and psychological than most horrors.

One of the scariest things about it was the personal hell through mental illness, and that we may genuinely hate our children, and be ground down to madness by not being able to escape them.
