RE: defrosting meats
Just make sure that whatever you defrost is properly defrosted prior to cooking otherwise cooking becomes more complex.
You must be defrosting a whole chicken for it to take 1/2hr. Breasts will normally take 10mins dependant on the power rating of your mic.
Just be careful but there isnt anything wrong with this, its making sure its properly cooked and that you dont get cross contamination of cooked/uncooked products that can cause problems.
