dvd drive problem

Been having problems with my Liteon computer DVd drive error

The computer reconises the drive as it says that it is operating normally - but when i put any disk in it it says theres no disk in the drive - have tried various disks in the drive and dont work but when i put them in the other dvd drive on the computer they work ok so not disk problem

uninstalled the drivers and thats not done anything and have checked the cables at the back which seem fine

any suggestions ?

hardware fault or if your lucky a dirty lens, you can buy a cleaning disc, it has a little brush on the disc and when you put it in the drive it whizzes round and cleans the lens.

Though if it doesnt recognise any disc all the time then I would put my money on it being faulty.

The fact the PC recognises it is nothing to do with it playing discs. Its certainly not a driver problem. This is right back at the barebones and is a hardware problem.

have the same prob, have a lite-on dvd drive in top bay and a dvd-rewriter in the other bay, it recognizes the liteon dvd drive but it is unusable, however the dvd writer works fine.
