estimating weight or cals

As the subject anyone got any tips on estimating weight or cals? Going away with work next week and carrying a set of scales is a little bit annoying. Anyone got any tips on how to poertion control there food so they can workou cals?

    myfitnesspal - really good 
    Calculate macros then add food either via barcodes/ingredients/name
    Need a smartphone or computer though

    thats my current tecnique. Howvere next week il be on a drill ship for around 6 weeks eating out of a canteen. so there wont be barcodes and stuff... just have to see how it goes i guess.

    You're going to have to eyeball it if you don't want to take the scales mate... Then give yourself some leeway really in guessing. Might be better to over guess then under guess.

    Maybe use the fist and spread your hands method ( cant find the link ) but basically fist size of carbs / protein and spread your hands for veg. Keep it like this for every meal and you should be fine!

    you must know what sort of size your meals are generally, you eat them everyday!  So just make good choices from clean sources of protein, carbs and lots of veg and control the portion sizes to what you normally eat.  you wont be that far out with calories unless your trying to fit things like calorie dense desserts inside a fairly restricted calorie ceiling.

    Yeah that spretty much my method. Just going to stay away from junk and eat clean. Watch my weight on scales and rein in on portion size if i getting heavier.

    iv slowly been dropping weight since boxing day and i didnt want it to stall when i go offshore haha.
