fooked knees

Hi all as the title suggests at the tender age of 43 i have bad knees and so neglect training legs making me rather top heavy much to the wifes amusment. Having recently come of steroids after many years these symptoms have worsened probably due to estrogen issues following pct.

My question is are any of you guys in the same boat and if so do you have a low impact leg routine ?

Is there a reason why your knees are in a bad way mate? Work or training-related? Is physio a possibity?

Yea its work related i was on my knees a lot when younger and still a bit now its caused a little arthritis which is quite manageable and only highlighted after a long period on my knees or a heavy weight session.

As you say, it's the heavy weight sessions which cause your knees the most irritation. I ditched squats and deadlifts completely because of my lower back and this is similar to your complaint. I realised that somnething had to give otherwise I would probably in permanent state of disability in my advancing years. It's hard to stop doing the exercises you enjoy but when your health is at stake it's the only sensible option.
I can still work my legs to a decent standard with presses, extensions and reverse curls. Just take it easy.

I think dead lifts are ok for me as long i keep relatively straight legged, squats presses and extentions give me grief if i go heavy

You could try mtut style training where you go pretty light but take bout 20 seconds to do your mtut rep

I often do slow reps as one of my knee hurting. Not slow as 20 seconds though.
Also pause at the bottom of the rep.
Anything that stops me moving upwards to quickly as that seems to jar my knee.

Though into my work out I can move more quickly as my legs tiring so the weight is not as bad on my knees.

Also include drop sets as I can work the legs hard while using not much weight on the last set.
