gironda tube holiday special!

This is a copy of a post from my journal, but i thought someone was more likely to read/critique here. Basically, I usually train heavy compound 5*5, but i'm off on holiday on Monday and will be out of the gym for a month. This is what I'm thinking of doing.

ok, just got a set of resistance tubes from decathlon. Despite the picture of a young lady "toning" on the pack, I've had a little play and i think i can make use of them.

I am thinking of doing an AB routine whilst on holiday.

A
flyes with resistance tubes
Press ups (tubes adding extra resistance)
shoulder press (with tubes)
Lateral raises with tubes

B
I leg squat
jump squat
Row with tubes
curl with tubes

I'm thinking of doing everything in an 8*8 gironda style, basically taking as little rest as possible (under 15 secs) between sets. I'll try to do 3/4 sessions per week, but will adapt depending on how it feels.

Obviously not perfect, but it will make a change from my 5*5 and should at least keep me ticking over.

cheers mate, i've got a collection of gironda articles, I have already tried 8*8. the reason I'm adapting is because i can't get to the gym.

Hey mind posting them to me ?

    Rather interesting stuff.

The physiques of that generation are what im aiming for, i guess train and eat like them minus the incredible amounts of dairy.

cheers ice mach. I might be able to find a gym for a session or two, but I'm moving around a fair bit (seeing friends/family) so this is more another option; If the opportunity arises I'll be straight in the gym.

After reading the article you put up about 8*8 (using 2 exercises for the 8 sets) I had a think and came up with this.

    DAY 1 DAY 2 DAY 3
A1 resistance tube flyes A1 chair dips I leg squats
A2 Weighted pressups A2 tube pushdowns jump squats
    Tube SLDL
B1 Tube row B1 standng tube curl I leg calf raise
B2 tube pulldown B2 tube concentration curl situps

    C1 tube shoulder press
    C2 tube lateral raise

The idea is to do day1, day2, day3, rest then repeat. Day 1 and 2 are done alternating the paired exercises until you get 8 total sets then move on to the next pair. Day three is done with straight sets 4*12 with short rests between sets.

Don't know if I will do this but it is intersting to think that if you adapt a bit and want to do something girndesque it is probably possibel even with just bodyweight and tubes. I'll still be going back to heavy 5*5 when i get back though
