got a loan that i DID pay back!
well in light of the negative post about being in debt etc i thought id post up a good story instead.
I went to uni and got in debt, hit hard times and got in more debt, barclays gave me a credit card which they got me to sign for at the college when i was 18 with a free mobile phone if i signed up (who wouldnt??) this got me in even more debt, which they soon upped my limit and i got in even more debt. i got out a 2500 overdraft which the bank said yes to (why???) i then got a loan, borrowed 4k from my mum and got another credit card. i then got hit with a fee from the student loans company demanding 1500 back.
well i decided last year that my life needed to be different, so i sold most of my stuff, moved from a house i was renting into just a single room in a flat, sold my beast opf a 3.0 twin turbo car which i loved and got a 2.0 instead.
ive agreed payments of £5 per month to student loans and that fee is now down to 895 i owe them.
i have paid off my credit cards fully (last payment last month) my phone bills are down from 160 a month to 45 a month. cable internet, tv and phone are gone, i just have vodaphone internet now, saving about 50 a month.
i have fully paid off my overdraft and i now have a grand in savings!!! SAVINGS! ha! never had money that was mine since i was 18. ten years ago!
i have just 1800 left to pay my mum on the credit card i borrowed and everything else is paid up.
found out i owe a debt collection company £133 after 3 didnt cancel my contract and the bill was still due... this sucks but im going to ring them and pay them next month when i get paid.
Thats pretty much all my debts sorted, i havent been clubbing etc much at all and havent been splashing my money anymore so ive hammered my debts. in about 2-3 months i will be totally debt free for the first time and im looking forward to it no end.
so to anyone that thinks they cant pay anything back and they are in trouble etc... you can. get a 2nd job and hammer it.
yes depression hits you, and there have been some really low times for me the past year or so, but i think ive turned things around.
im not looking for a pat on the back, as it was my mess in the first place. i just read the negative thread about not being able to pay loans back etc and i wanted to show that people can.
there are hundreds of part time jobs out there to do in evenings like bar work etc, mc donalds, even cleaning for the council (hoover for £15 a day for 2 hours in council offices).
