the first thing i would do is get your form checked on all events, making sure you hit depth on squat, dont hitch on deads etc

you can do that by posting vids on here, or you can get checked by a powerlifter in your gym

There are 4 federations in the UK, 2 of them drug tested and 2 of them not.

BWLA (British Weight Lifting Association) - drug tested
BDFPA (British Drug Free Powerlifting Association) - drug tested
BPO (British Powerlifting Organisation) - no drug testing
BPC (British Powerlifting Congress) - no drug testing

so decide which route you want to take.

Then you can decided to compete equipped or un-equipped, all feds do both I think.

most powerlifters seem to use 5x5, 3x3 or working upt a 5/3/1 rep max, i've used all of these methods to good effect, and i'm the same age as you

Nice post, was about to post similar q's....

What kind of weight are people lifting in amateur BPO and BPC events?

Is it split on weight category?

    Sounds good

If you scroll down through the routines in this link you should find some info: www.muscletalk.co.uk/m_854463/tm.htm

Also you have some excellent lifts for your age and bodyweight, well done.

This is an excellent suggestion. At a local comp, find out where the local lifters train, then go and train there yourself. Although it sounds easy enough there is a right and a wrong way, you can't beat a good coach. Very few lifters are self taught

Can you get over to Colchester once a week/fortnight? If so, go to Hamilton's. Some sound lads (and lasses) there.

The keys to getting on the right track will be getting with an experienced PLifter or better yet " group" for encouragement and discipline. Then its all about consistency in training and effort. And as said your #'s are already nice best of luck
