high heomaglobin count

hi guys,
just had another op on my back and my blood results before hand came back with a heomaglobin count of 18.7. he nurse said she has never known one to be so high. she said the average is 14 for men. does anyone know why it might be so high and if it has anything to do with previous steroid use. just interested to find out thats all

cheers

I would have guessed that after 3 months you'd be back to baseline...steroids do result in an increase though.

the value 18 and 14 are they g/l

if so a level fo 18 isnt too high if you have been training at altitude

i dont know if that is the case for you but if you have come back from say for eg a cycling trip in the alps then this would be an expected level.
