hit a 245kg bench!

training the the irish gpc open, in the under 90kg junior class. worked up to 245kg in the overkill followed by 140kg plates plus 40kg band tension, for 3 sets of 5.
On a related note got invited to compete at the WPC/GPC worlds in the states in November, but I cannot afford to go without any form of sponsorship, anyone know of any companies or brands who may be interested?

great bench!

sadly you'll be lucky to find anything other than a pat on the back on any forum mate.
sponsorship is like hens teeth and financial support is even rarer.
Why should they sponsor you? What have you got that will make it worth their while?

Have you any following on twitter/facebook that makes any sponsorship viable marketing wise?

Its not about wearing a t-shirt around the show, saying their supps or equipment are the best ever on facebook/twitter and stating how you couldnt function without it.
As tongue in cheek as it sounds, you have to show a good return on investment for any company to put hand in pocket for you.

Well I would represent their company and brand and use their gear/supplements, and win hopefully haha, giving it a good name! Not really, have a fair few followers on my facebook and on instagram ect, but dont post constantly on facebook about powerlifting related stuff as the negative comments are usually more common than the positive ones I get.

no problemo mate! :)

what are your odds of winning? happy to be there or real front running contender?
social media is huge, some guys never compete but look the business yet have a lot of sponsorship due to their marketability/likeability... what do you have?
would you be willing (actually willing, not just a dead weight take take take person) to work expos, turn up to events to help their brand?

I've had full sponsorships from supplement companies (not % deals off website price 'to rep'), clothing brands, gym rates etc. Its HARD ASS WORK getting these, i spent years developing a profile online and that was what made me marketable to these people, i put in the hours every day spamming my face out there across all forums and facebook.

Get online more, get involved in social media more and start looking at yourself as a product.
What makes YOU a product others would like to invest into?

I've seen pro's in all sports win many titles and trophies but gain little to no sponsorship as they have no marketability. They are not online, off social media and expect companies to flock to their feet.

I've never heard of you, why should i listen to why you are using XYZ brand?
That question is easier to answer the more and more people follow your progress.

I wish you all the luck mate, any pointers you need just ask

great bench mate, really impressive!!!

I have a friend who is sponsored by Bulk Powders and he's always posting about their latest product and makes video blogs etc. He has around 1000 followers on twitter which isnt too crazy but perhaps email some companies direct and ask if you can have a sponsorship application?

Keep up the good work and good luck in the states if you end up going!

Sponsorship nowadays is very hard to find, and financial sponsorship is even harder.

Aaron has hit the nail on the head - you need to be able to offer something to get a return on the investment for the company.

I wouldn't even bother emailing companies to be honest as by the sounds of it you aren't going to be able to offer anything worthwhile.

My advice would be to set up a crowd funding page, and share it with friends, family, and on the forums. You may be able to get a bit of money together this way.

my odds of winning are very high, Ive never not come 1st place in a competition before, Ive yet to see any junior total 10 times bodyweight which is what Im hoping to hit at this competition, I would do a log, write articles ect, anything that would help me to compete. As a broke college student the travelling is very expensive and there is a fee to even compete at all, so I simply cannot afford to on my own.

That would be a dream for me I pay to go these kind of expos haha. you havent heard of me yet but I hope you do (apart from just here haha) fairly soon ;)

I do post vids on facebook and these forums occasionally, not sure what else I can do without just being an annoying c**t haha, any tips Aaron?

I WILL MAKE YOU LOVE ME!!!

Start posting more vids on Twitter/FB/Instagram, make them a little personal with a few words before or after a lift...or just let the weight do the talking.

Post journals on sugden etc, network your ass off...

the thing is I would be more than willing to do this, I just have not had the opportunity to. I've sent a message round to every supplement company around(literally, every single one I could find), explaining and noone was interested so I am at a loss. I dont have a twitter but Ive got 3000 on instagram nearly, tomogleeson is my username if anyone wants to add me ha, thanks but but the way its looking atm I wont be :/
