hummmmm.......crossword anyone?

As I was on the stairmaster this morning in the gym...a guy came and sat in front of me on the sitting down stationery bike ones, where you sit back against a rest?..one of those...then proceeded to pedal as slowly as a tortoise out for a Sunday drive....(by the way, not an older chap, in his mid to late 30s maybe)...then out came the Sunday paper, the large edition, which he read page to page...then got a pen out of his pocket and did the crossword...occasionally answering his mobile phone and having a chat.....after about 25 mins, he got up, not a drop of sweat or even redness of the face...and nodded at me and said "right then, that's my workout for the day, off for a coffee and a rest, hate coming to the gym".....A REST!!!!?  WTF?...lololol......

I just felt confused as to why he was there at all?..I really dunno...escaping the family perhaps?...just wanting a sit down?...lolol...omg!!  don't get it at all...but ..it gaven me something to look at whilst stepping away so can't complain....hahahaha.....

Think that bit might have given away his reasons for lack of proper training ethic lol

Maybe it's some sort of physio for his knee?

I guess some people just like to be able to say "yeah I go to the gym" to imply that they make an effort!

I think it's funny how 'bodybuilders' are quick enough to get on the defensive when someone asks why they eat differently to everyone else yet slate everyone who doesn't do the same routine, put in the same amount of effort as them or conform to their way of thinking.

I work from home so spend all day at home. If I am spending the night in with the GF or whatever sometimes I will pop down the gym just to get out of the house for an hour. If I'm not feeling particularly energetic I may just do a bit of cycling or some walking on a treadmill. It's mainly just to get out the house for a bit and clear my head.

Hopefully by me using the facilities I pay for in the way I want to I am not making anyone else's life a misery. If so, they have issues.

You see alsorts in gyms. Some plod along in their own sweet world and as said wonder why nothing's happening for them, some will  be rehabilitating, some are simply happy to 'be there'. I have seen them all whilst at a chain style gym, less so in a smaller private gym. I remember wondering WTF someone was doing one day when he was doing rotator cuff exercises as I was one of those typical trainers who had never done RC before . Now if I see something I don't know I will ask "that looks interesting, what's that working?" sometimes it's a new exercise, many times it a common exercise just being executed very badly
