Give adrian flux a call, they specialise in modified cars but ive used them for standard cars before, always found the cheapest for me.

Get your own policy as well, dont be a named driver.

Named driver if you are actually the main driver isn't allowed, make sure you don't crash! When I was younger my best mate done this and crashed and still has trouble getting insurance.
In terms of brokers, I use one but have yet to see young drivers get much of a deal through them.

a grand for a 1.4 in s****horpe is pretty damn good.

I paid out 1500 for a 2003 1.4 16v for my first year. 2 years later its gone down to 750 with NCB.
Get a bike if its that much worry. My bike was 230 quid third party and 0-40 is quicker than my car.

this quote was me as a named driver on a policy taken out in my dads name then given the option to select which driver will be the main driver, so chose me. its allowed aslong as you state that the named driver will be the main driver.
It also allowed named drivers to earn their own no claims bonus.

so from what u guys r saying this is a pretty good deal.

I'd be interested in seeing the policy document. I'm sure there will be something in the small print. I take it the car is your old mans? Because the owner usually has to be the main driver. Named driver no claims bonuses are ok but loads of companies don't accept it and is often not transferable.
What company was that quote with?
