intra workout - or just sip on your post workout

most intra workout just seems to be BCAAs.  I drink whey isolate following a workout anyway, so maybe mixing up a bit extra and drinking half during the workout seems to be the same thing to me.

IMO Intra W/O are only useful if you do extended workouts.
Yes the BCAA are the most effective ingredient (mainly the Leucine).

Ignorance: Reassuringly Expensive.

Intra workout nutrition makes no sense to me unless you plan on training for hours. Whatever you have to eat before a normal workout will probably still be getting into your blood by the time your workout is finished. Even free aminoacids taken alone will keep blood levels high for like 90 minutes so you can take bcaas or straight leucine before training and it'll probably last you through the whole session.

i do fasted cardio in the mornings and i'm low carbing it.
first season using BCAA's and so far the jury is out two months in.

I'm happy with the muscle retention i've had overall (from everything i do, not just BCAA's) but time will tell when i reach a level of bf% i know well regarding how much muscle i am retaining.

1st month was using amino-last
2nd month i'm using Warrior's brand of BCAA's intra drink

There's nothing wrong with using some non essential supplements, to make your training and diet a little more enjoyable.

Let's face it there's far worse things in the world you can waste your money, so 50 odd pence for an intra shake every workout is hardly a big deal, unless you're seriously strap for cash.

If you love something let it go,if it comes back to you it's yours,if it doesn't it never was.

At my two other gym workouts I sip the gym coffee and 15g of flavored BCAA (not mixed together).

so whats the logic in only putting BCAAs in the intra workout and not a complete protein like the post workout?

BCAAs are free form, so don't require the same level of digestion that a complete protein powder needs (bar the likes of peptopro) so can be utilised a lot quicker than even whey isolate or hydrolysed whey.

I've found using electrolytes has helped me the most with training - i drink like a fish in the gym and found i'd be cramping up towards the end.

OK, i'm confused now because my whey says it contains BCAAs.   Don't these ones get absorbed quickly too?

I use electrolytes and bcaas, I train fasted in the morning most of the time, and I enjoy them, the ''science'' would seem to support this, but who knows, some love them, some think them a waste of time. For me, as stated above, i enjoy it, I don't drink or smoke or have any cash heavy hobbies, so a few extra supps from time to time are nice, and I don't use pre's, so, you know.......
