Leskol mate, i get mine in ASDA mainly in he larger stores. Havent seen it in tesco but my Tesco is only a little Metro. If youre sick try some echinaeca (sp?) as well as zinc and keep your fluids up. If your throat is killing you then try out some Ultra Chlorseptic Spray, its essentially liquid painkiler you spray to the back of your throat and kills the pain instantly, really good stuff as when i get sick i cant stand having a sore throat

Yes that's (one of) its role. But does that mean supplementing with zinc will 'help'?

Ive used it for years but only supplemented with a zinc losenge when im sick which i havent been in over a year, the losenges i have are from Costco theyre Vit C and Zinc cherry flavour. Dont know wheter it would "help" i guess it would "help" as much as a multivit in a sound diet plan would, some benefit but what real world benefit will be seen. I just cant stand being sick so ill take every 0.1% i can get

The latest research published in New Scientist suggests Echinacea doesnt work in preventing colds or ilness or reducing duration thereof.

It was in a copy of the magazine I had, the article will be in the online archive somewhere, but as Im not a subscriber, I cant access it.

Im not trying to shoot Echinacea down btw, I used to believe in its benefits too and was more than a little dissapointed when I read the latest study results.

I have supplemented with zinc for donkeys years to replace the sweat losses from training - cant say if it works or not, but I know when I dont stick to my proper nutrition and supps regime I do tend to get sick pretty quick ...

Would supplemental zinc help with losses from sweat when running a fever perhaps?

Even if its placebo I hate colds that much and am paranoid about throat infections that I will try anything.

I have 3 throat infections over the last few years - 1st one 6 weeks off work, temp of 40 degrees, lost my voice for over a month
2nd - hospitalised due to dehydration and severe restriction of the airway due to swelling and infection of the epiglottis
3rd - hallucinations and delirium for over 9 hours at the height of the fever!

    grr
