is black shirt for a christening to depressing?

Its my sons christening next week . Im not gonna wear a suit as i dont own one . I was thinking of a black shirt and grey trousers or is a white shirt and tie a better option .? I have the feeling my mates will take the p*ss if i wear too much black .

Dont bother with a suit, just a good clean open neck white shirt will be good enough.

Nah, its be a small ralaxed affair i would imagine, though you could always put one on then if it looks ok take it off, just in case.

never been to a christening, so i don't really know the dress etiquette. The only thing i can say is, as the father you should wear a tie and shirt. As I'm guessing all the other male attendees will be wearing a shirt, so it would be nice if you kind of stuck out a bit.....
