knee trouble from running

im starting to get really bad pains in my knees/ankles/ and calves from jogging im just under 17 stone so maybe its my own body weight causeing the problems do you reckon i should leave weight traing out on my legs for a few weeks after ive recovered as im leaving legs for a wile and also is there anything else i can do for cardio that wont put to much stress on my legs?

oh im training at home i dont mind spending about 200 notes on a cv machine just limited for space tho

cheers

You're a big fella, so I would suggest getting shoes that are up to taking that kind of impact. Perhaps seek out a running shoe shop specialist. They'll also be able to check your running style to find out if you need special tech in your shoe (if you're an overpronator for example), or perhaps you could benefit from orthotics.

Where running's concerned you've got to get the right pair for you, it can make the difference between running injury free and not.

    It's never that bad...

    IMO:

either take a couple of weeks off to let the inflammation calm down and then invest in an excellent pair of running shoes with some decent inner soles, warming up thoroughly before hand and running on soft surfaces only (grass etc, not hard tarmac!)

or better still, invest in a cross trainer type machine so you can ezxercise as hard as you like with no impact on your joints
