Fair enough mate!!

if you think you are still 4 weeks out, that is pretty much bang on for the MT show, it would do you good to get some experience on stage then come the dorchester show you will be firing on all cyclinders.

No, Im going to aim for the Dorchester show and prep really hard - dont get me wrong, I have given 100% for the one on June 12th but my starting point was just simply too far out to hit it on the nail.
This time I dont have to worry about losing 40lbs to make the weight, I can concentrate on doing whatever is necessary to hit the condition I need.

We do today what they wont - so tomorrow we accomplish what they cant!

Good for you mate, you have made a wise decision if your comfortable getting up from where you are at now!!

What are you planning on doing just continuing straight through so basically a full additional 11weeks, or are you gonna take a few days off to full recharge, and get your metabolism firing properly again ready for the extention to prep!

Im going to have a good chat with Micky later to discuss the plans. Its been good discussing it with him the last couple of days as its easy to slip into the mindset where you can convince yourself you are further forward than you are - having someone be very upfront and honest about something you have worked at for a few months isnt initially easy to hear, especially if you are thinking it yourself but havent voiced it yet... but as soon as we discussed it I could see exactly where my shortcomings are. And the idea of now having 11 weeks to concentrate purely on conditioning really excites me!

Nice to have someone with a very level headed approach, you know looking at the pics you are a good bit out, not a crime, but, we want you like we discussed, in the best possible shape. So that means taking a bit more time with the prep, but, starting on the front foot this time. Was good to chat and onwards and upwards from here on in!!

This is good to read mate!! You have made the decision for all the right reasons and it has clearly been thought through and discussed with the one person that counts.

Thanks for the comments guys. I know I have made the right decision, I didnt realise how enthused I would feel waking up today without the worry of weight loss on my mind, instead having the amazing prospect of 11 weeks of targeting the conditioning ahead of me! Dont get me wrong, there will be weight loss - but i have a handful of pounds to worry about now that I have got the first 40 out of the way!!

Westy - seeing your latest pics confirms to me that I was not ready even for the Muscletalk show in 4 weeks. You are far better conditioned than I am right now, you are looking real good!

11 weeks til Dorchester, and it starts RIGHT NOW!!!!

hi mate, just having a catch up on everyones journals, though i have been reading, i havent had time to post!

good decision i feel, and the extra time will mean that you can really nail things.  last year i had the mad rush to the show, knowing that i wasnt really going to be ready, and it wasnt a nice thing to be going through!

keep it nailed on bud!

Feeling so much better about everything with the additional time to prep. Seriously, its as if all the stress and worry has been removed and my body has responded accordingly - I look a different person to the one that realised last week I wasnt ready.
10 weeks to go, and I am going to be so dialled!!! Especially now Mickys other guys have all had placings at the weekend!

Everything going good. Was weird doing my cardio this morning thinking that the original plan was to compete today.
Trainings going well, and I definitely look better than 2 weeks ago when I delayed the comp - not good enough to be on stage yet, but I have 10 more weeks to get there now!

Friday - shoulders.
I have a weird dead spot thats appeared in my shoulders. Its there during shoulder press but not during side, front or rear delt raises?!?
When the dumbbell comes down to shoulder level in the press it feels like it wants to give if I dont moved my hand outwards?? Most bizarre! To compensate, I have dropped the weight and reduced the range of motion and increased the reps. Is this the right thing to do as I cant really drop shoulder press out between now and the comp!
Side delts, front delts, rear delts are all good!

Saturday - arms. The odd shoulder problem doesnt affect me on biceps or triceps, so that was full on.
Tricep V-bar press downs.
Tricep rope pull downs.
Bar bell curls.
Concentration curls
Single arm rope tricep extensions
Preacher curls.

Sunday - legs. Oddly enough, the shoulder problem rears its head here! My shoulder has a dull ache in it when i have my hands over the bar during squats....
Squats
Front Squats
Straight Leg Deadlifts
Leg Press
Hamstring Curls
Leg Raises
Calves

Each day is starting with 60 mins cardio and each session finishes with abs.

Trying to keep my head straight with it all at the moment. The training I can handle, but bizarrely the last few days has all been psychological. Im wondering whether its because last weekend should have seen me doing the Hayes show and maybe next week the Muscletalk show - the reality is that Im still prepping and will be for 8 more weeks due to the time until the next available comp!
Have taken some of Mickys advice and currently only train in a sweatshirt rather than a vest - it sounds daft and insignificant, but its taking my mind off how I look in comparison to anyone else in the gym. Now I dont notice anyone else and I dont compare where I am - they arent competing, so being in better condition than them has no bearing on whether Im ready for the stage! Now I dont measure my condition until I am home and in front of my mirror (which has pics from The Beef on it!!)

all sounds good mate.  micky will make sure you are where you need to be, i have no doubt!

Biggest part of competing is dealing with the mind games.  first year i dieted down, coming down to just over 12 stone when i had been over 15 was a complete nightmare.  doesnt bother me anymore, because its what you have to do to get ready.

Its really bizarre - in the first prep, I got to 2 weeks out from a comp and never once felt as low as the last few days.
I think it may be that the Hayes comp has passed and the Muscletalk show is this weekend - both shows were my original goal. Psychologically seeing those dates pass and still have 8 weeks to go seems to be weighing heavy on the old mind. I dont know, maybe I got off lightly in the first prep as I didnt ever feel as low as this - maybe that goes hand in hand with why I wasnt in the right condition for the comp, I never got to the point where I was really hating it. As Micky has told me, if I feel like crap and I hate it then I am heading in the right direction! If thats the truth, then Im on for a good placing haha!!

Yeah I know, I just need to man up and stop whining lol!!!
Actually, getting it all off my chest seems to have helped. Felt a real mood change yesterday, a positive change.
Took some unplanned pics yesterday when I was going for a sunbed, just for my own curiosity, and I was pleased with where I was - so I sent them to Micky as I knew he would give me an honest reality check if I was misleading myself.. and his response was positive as well! Definite improvements over where I was 2 weeks out from Hayes and the diet and cardio isnt anywhere near as strict as it was then!
The cool thing is, I have woken up this morning REALLY envious of the people doing Bedford tomorrow. THat has to be a good sign!
8 weeks to go to Dorchester, its all systems go!!
