mergals sweet potato odyssey 2015 final fat pix now up!

Hello Shapers
my aim:  BUILD, naturally without too much fat.   Im starting at 8stone.  Waist 27", thigh 19", bicep 11", hip 35"
Will be a challenge psychologically as expecting to smooth over and probably wont be too happy with how I look - Ive only ever done a cut Shape up before and its more motivating for me to keep on when can see definition at end BUT I need the motivation and support to keep on eating and training hard.    As I dont expect any lovely giant muscles in 3mths my goals are to build strength (get my squats to using the 20kg plates regularly) and to be more regular in my yoga practice as well as weight training.   Ive neglected yoga last year with comp preps and really want to keep it up for general condition and flexibility.   Piccies below.  Moderators please let me know if these ok.  Good luck alll SUCers x

Looking great already Mergal.  I find it hard mentally to try and gain quality weight.  When I'm lean I feel skinny and when I get bigger I feel fat.  Damn my brain.  Good luck.

So first week done.   good in some ways as got some great training in whilst on the road.   Felt almost strong on the hated walking lunges - was actually bouncing back up with the 12kg dbells then did some more the other day with 14kgs and struggled but when went back to 12kgs was powering through like a good un :)    Ive been doing legs only for a couple of months and its had some effect - am definitely seeing an emerging hamstring and got much better connection with these now.

Did some illegal cardio in the form of swimming sprints and some aqua aerobics as I was staying in hotel with a lovely pool.  Had a swimsuit malfunction and flashed my boobs woopsie daisy.  (Swimsuit was purchased in my leaner period and its not quite up to the off season job!)

Food not too clever though - generally sticking to my 6 meals of the good stuff but a couple of days went awry missed a meal and couldnt seem to resist the choccies (had a work visit where the host had made a french mousse with the MOST DEVINE chocoloate macarons - just had to have some!).    And had 3 evenings with a glass of red or too.   Not quite the lean mean bulking machine of my dreams so need to get focus back.

New instructions are to rest legs for a week, just do upper body, then work out a new split which gets whole body done in a week but different from my old routine (have been doing same for years so needs a shake up)   So will probably ask for some advice on how to divide things up.  Think my shoulders need some more focused attention but these have been injured in the past with some remaining niggles so need to tread line between attacking them and not busting them.

keep on keeping on x

Thanks ksg :)

happy with my Quad day yesterday.   Squatted with the 15kg plates 7x7 good and deep.  happy with that I will get to the 20kg soon I promise myself.  And actually went on the hack squat without someone forcing me too (I fear this machine).   Didn't put any plates on though - baby steps.  But did 3 x 15 of half rep/full rep and forced myself to go down to thigh parallel.   I really do find this very scary for some reason - scarier than bbell squat there is something about being "locked" in the machine that I really fear.

Strangely have pains in my abductors today and a little bit at top outer side of thigh not at front of quads, but at least I have pains :)

in other news I have at last perfected my peanut butter, whey, cranberry and oat cookies.   This could be very very very very bad news in terms of keeping the waist in check :) :)
