it makes sense to me. If they gave you half price at a different, higher, monthly charge it will cost their business more money.

Your contract will state that if you change your tariff you will lose your promotional line rental deal. Regardless of who you speak to, UK or India I would think the response will be the same.

    Good luck all the same.

I empathise with you mate. 3 are by far the worst mobile provider I have had the misfortune to deal with when it comes to customer service. Just thinking about their call centre staff still makes my blood boil now. ggggggggggrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

I tried to downgrade my tarrif from 45 quid to 35 a month. They wanted to charge me £50 for this. I told them to shove it and have cancelled the direct debit. Useless.

unfortunately indian call centres are here to stay!

When I ring 02 I usually get Glaswegians who are a bit easier to understand, just jokin!

I've had a few problems with them over the years but they've generally been pretty good.

Mate I was going to post a similar thread. I got a letter through stating that (persons name) owned £235.45 on a 3 contract bill! He had stayed at my address 2 years ago and when we bought the house we found out he had left leaving a lot of debt. So I tried phoning them with the number on the letter and they hung up on me 3 times. I waited for ages each time, this is a week after I had a 3 mobile phone sent to my office out of the blue. It was addressed to the office but in some other man's name?? I called the UK number for the Glasgow office to say I had it and would they send a courier to collect it. They said it had nothing to do with them but they would put me through to the relevant department!!! So after explaining the situation 4 times to the wee guy in India, he hung up on me!!! I tried again and they said there is nothing they could do?? I swear to god I would never even think about taking out a product with them.

I used to work for 3.
I also worked for NEC who helped build their mobile network.

    They are terrible.

I received a free phone in 2004 with free promotional calls for 6 months. I stoped using after the 6 months but still receive a monthly bill with charges on it even today - even though the phone hasn't been used for 3 years.

Phoning their call centres was useless - they were more interested in determining what the correct name to call me was (Mr....., first name) rather than sort the problem out. Always told me it would be sorted. It never happened.

I've given up contacting them in the hope they give up billing me. Let's see who cracks first.

I did a similar thing to you with 02 but was able to change the tariff to a cheaper one after 3 months. That was by speaking to a UK customer advisor.
Not very helpful I know but just an insight into 3's atrocious customer service.

There's this UK number you could try 0800 358 6946 (direct sales).
It's not the right department but they might at least transfer you to someone UK based.
