my fitness plan, any good HIIT

Hi, want to get fitter and flat stomach, etc etc ...sorry for all the post but want to get it right from the beginning

been running on my treadmill almost every other day for about an hour and its been ok, but recently heard HIIT is much better in almost everyway and best to do it in the morning, due to the way your body metablises food... so plan :

get up earlier
run 30 mins HIIT ->

10mins warm up
2 mins jog
1 min sprint
2mins jog
1 min sprint

etc for total of 30 mins ( inc. warmup )

then shower and have breakfast( 2 wetabix?? )
and then continue day as normal

would this be any good then, i'm going to try to do this tuesday - friday

and then maybe either sat or sunday...

any other advice/suggestions ?

it does not matter what time of the day you do it, but you SHOULD NOT do anything, especially HIIT before eating!!!

also, you do not need a 10min warmup, jog lightly until you start to brak a sweat [3-5min]

lastly, there is no way on earth you will be able to hold a full sprint for 1minute, having only had a 2min rest period. if you are starting, drop your sprint to 10-20seconds and your rest peroid should be 2-3minutes. repeat for as long as you can.

Totally agree with Robert about the intervals, you shouldn't need to do them for more than 20 mins to improve your fitness but they're not necessarily the best way to go for fat burning. I do 12 - 15 min interval training, 7 mins jog, then 30 second sprints with 1 - 2 mins rest, starting at say 15kph working up to 20kph. I don't think you'll be able to do 30 mins if you really push the sprints.

Don't see why you shouldn't run on an empty stomach though, I always do on a Sat, not usually interval work just a long run but always before any food. Maybe you should consider having a bar after though instead of cereal, or include a protein shake?

    sorry probably bad english..

but you saying i shouldn't do HIIT on an empty stomach ? so best to have breakfast first ?

and i guess i don't really sprint for 1 min as it takes a while for the treadmill to speed up :)

DO NOT do anything, especially HIIT without eating FIRST.

its really up to you. just eat your whatever before you do it and wait long enough so you don't puke during it. 1 hour should be fine.
