need motivation!!

hey girls!!
i just finished my second contest and have been off diet (but still training hard--for mass this time)
my diet now is pretty much just allowing myself the things i was deprived of most of the 8 weeks i was dieting. (which is basically everything YUMMY, SINFUL, and FATTENING) although i'm still lighter than i was when i started working out last yeat, i've gained back the weight that i lost from the contest...i know its about time to clean up my diet but i can't seem to find the willpower in me to say no to that plate of cookies offered to me, or my hand seems to have a mind of its own and reaches out for the spoon to dunk in the peanut butter jar. also i think after not getting my period for two months my hormones are starting to normalize and i'm craving like anything...this particular week has been the worst...i hope it comes soon (my period) so that the cravings stop. [:(!]
i may have another contest in the end part of November and i'm thinking that this is my motivation to start right NOW... but i'm wondering if its too late and whether i'll be able to catch up and get back on track. right now its just "i'll start dieting tomorrow" everyday. haha. i know i'm going to pretty much get comments like, just suck it up and do it, for crying out loud. maybe that is what i subconsciously want to hear....[xx(]
what about you, girls...what motivates you?

TG, the longer you leave it the harder it will get! If you REALLY want to go for the comp then you will do it.....or are you trying to find a way out of it?

As you know, dieting is also a mind game as well as a body one.....the reason you are craving these things is because you are telling yourself you can't have them. Try an find an alternative for them or allow yourself a small treat a the end of the day if you have had a good training session etc. But when it gets time for that treat, think if you really need it or is it for the sake of it? When I first competed, I followed a 10 day diet where every 10th day I had a 'binge day'. Everything I craved on the other nine was either written down on a list or I would buy it and put it in a special cupboard. When the binge day finally came round I found I didn't want half of the stuff I was allowing myself and I would just end up eating more of the good carbs instead![:p]

Try keeping a food diary too because when you see it written down, it makes you behave more! And of course keep in touch with us!

How long does it take you to diet down for a show?

The cravings can make you miserable. I know its going to sound like I am trying to sell a product here, but I found one called Leptigen---Metabolic Optimizer. Its made by Avant Labs. And when I got my tub, it still wasnt made yet with flavor --- think they are coming out with flavored now.

Anyway, you take a couple of tablespoons of this twice a day or so, between meals. Works good when you are on a restricted diet. I swear to god, it curbs cravings. My period was fixing to start, and I used this two weeks or so before my due time. Never once binged on anything bad, and I was shocked when my period started and I hadnt had any cravings.

I found out about it on another b/b site I go to. They wanted some testers to test the product, and I volunteered.

You can go to Avant Labs on the web, and look it up, ingredients and all.

Anyway......thought if you needed a little boost in the curbing cravings department......this might be a option for you.Didnt add any extra bloat.

Anyway.......best of luck to whatever you choose to do

thanks everyone!! Gymbabe, that is exactly what i wanted to hear. i'm starting today. i've already had a good start to my day, with just eating a fish and my sweet potato for breakfast. nothing added. (no extra piece of bread, no cheese, no honey, nothing....) yaay me. of course its only 9 am and i have the rest of the day to worry about. the food log is a good idea, thanks, Kitty, and octopussy, i will definitely see what is in the Leptigen. i don't think we carry that product here, but i will definitely find out for sure. thanks girlies, i knew i could count on you!! :)

oh, i forgot, last time i did a show my diet was 10 weeks.
i think part of the reason i'm iffy about the show in November is that there haven't been any announcements of the official date or anything yet...but you know what...i don't care. i'm going to clean up anyway.

I'm waiting for the leptigen to be in stock again! Heard great reports on it.

Although i find that keeping protein high curbs cravings anyway.

    TG: go for it you!
And keep a journal again - it was a cracking read and I waited eagerly for up dates - more pics this time please :)

You know you want to compete - you know you want to diet - because look at you it in your blood - and its your biggest craving so satisfy it because if you dont you can never be satisfied.

Now GO AND KICK SOME ASS!!!!

Levi - peanut butter tastes better out of the jar - everyone knows that, just like angel delight tastes better out the bowl stood infront of the fridge!

Don't worry girl, it's the same for everybody. After a contest you always feel sooooo relieved so it often ends with giving the diet a huge kick. It's normal and don't feel bad about it.
You'll get back on the track as soon as you've fixed yourself another date and goal.
November is soon........ When is it exactly and what's your body composition right now?

hi Philia, i'm now at 131 lbs, and probably at around 16% bodyfat.(maybe more, i'm afraid to measure...)
i have a question...around how many contests do you do a year?
all of a sudden i'm doubting whether i can make the december 6 one. i'm feeling half-assed and not giving my all dietwise. training hard i can and i do. i'm just thinking that if this is the way i am now, i might even be more burned out for my April 04 national contest. and that is the more important of the two contests.
    dilemma...

Tank, I think if you are not doing the work then you will only be disappointed if you do not get the result you want in December. If you deep down don't want to do it then go all out for next April and stun them all! BUT.......you still need to work at it!

Don't feel that way.....just 'punish' yourself with extra hard sessions[}:)].

Too many comps can have a detrimental affect on you...it's quality and not quantity that count.
