new gym and needles

i have joined a new gym as i was annoyed with the old one however this one has sharps bins in each of the toilet cubicles. should i be worried about this ? is this now becoming the norm in gyms ie people injecting themselves in the toilets. Im all in favour of legalising so called illegal drugs but im a bit uncomfortable about the fact that people may be injecting themselves in the gym :( PS its a normal gym not one dedicated soley to body builders

Ive never seen it anywhere before, from dungeon gyms to franchise ones, never seen needles openly left about anywhere.

If it's diabetes then why aren't these bins everywhere? Why are they in gyms but not in Starbucks or The Library?

I have seen them in various stores. But a gym makes sense some people test their blood sugar before a workout or after. The lancet is still a risk so a bio hazard bin makes sense. And let's face it people do use the gym to inject. Better to have a safe way of discarding the syringe than the trash and some innocent person gets stuck. Put them everywhere no more needles in the parks.

Never seen it before but can't say it would bother me.

I would question the hygiene of a toilet as a place to create an inch deep hole in your leg.

They have them in public toilets as well.
I don`t see why this concerns you?
It isn`t encouragement to use illegal substances. Its a responsible measure.
I hate seeing used syringes lying about in parks where young kids can pick them up and play with them.

Lets look at from a diffrent point of view. Your the gym owner and someone comes to you and tells you theres a needle in one of the toilets. How do you deal with it? You dont know whose it is. You could stick up signs saying no drug use. People might see this in a bad light and move gyms. Or you could place correct correct bins and make sure it dosnt happen again.
IMO your gym is being responsible.

Yes but they wouldn`t want to wait to get home before injecting insulin or Peptides etc. Post W/O

interesting , im all in favour of the safe use of drugs (illegal and legal ones) its just lots of things were going through my mind when i saw this. If its for diabetics then fine , i did email and ask the gym and all i got back was that it was in place due to a risk assessment they did with the local councils which was a bit of a vague response. Its not really a body building gym and there are a wide range of people from twinky 16 year olds to body builders (men and women) and i think the number of members who would take steroids are very low, i do feel reassured now but i wonder how many other members worry the sharps bins and whether the sharps bins are in the female changing rooms . Im also not sure the toilets are the most hygenic place to inject yourself with anything

Re the homes comment. I've seen an awful lot of hard core PED topics on all manner of levels of use where, surprisingly, they don't tell the partner etc

Also you wouldn't want needles in the house where your children might find them, nomatter how well hidden they are.

Sealed in a room where atomised feaces and bacteria are rampant... if anyone has been in the toilets of a spit n saw dust gym its close to the hole in the floor on a Pakistan train cart. Great place to inject IM without fear of infection
Maybe after they grab a hand full of day old skidders and rub it into the jab site?

Don't they have them in most virgin gyms, and is the official line, not something like, there for disposing of used razor blades safely.

I suppose its a tricky one, on the one side you don't want to be seen to be encouraging drug use, on the other hand its better to have the needles and vials disposed of properly rather than left on sinks or changing room floors .... and of course its difficult to put a sign up asking people to dispose of their drug paraphernalia respectfully without setting off alarm bells too.

Difficult call. depends on your client base I suppose.

No, Not that Dr Z.  Please don't bother PM'ing me for 'Price Lists'  You have the wrong guy.
