newbie from full body to split in 3 months

Just had my 1st split workout tonight and I must say that it feels strange that I wont be performing the excercises again for another week.

Iv made great gains from my full body workout in my 1st 3 months, just a bit paranoid now that I'm not doing enough.

Bit of a transistion period for me like at the moment.

    alright fella,

this is my routine that I've started

    Monday
    Back Biceps

    Deadlifts
    Bentover rows
    Pull downs/up's
    Bicep curl
    Hammer curl
    Upright row

    Wednesday
    Chest Shoulder Tri

    Benchpress
    Shoulder press
    Dips
    Narrowgrip bench press
    Lateral flyers

    Friday
    Legs

    Squats
    SLDL
    Calve raises

did the chest/shoulder/tri tonight as I have a bit of a bad back tonight nothing major, bit of a dull ache.

I did 3 x 10 on my full body workout, Im using 3 x 8 on this new routine.

The plus side for I was able to increase the weight on bench press by 2.5kg and still manage to finish 3 x 8, on the last set of shoulder I managed to increase the weight so it seems the shorter workout time is beneficial.

looks a very solid routine. i would personally get rid of the upright row.and maybe one of the curls. i am doing something very similar and didnt feel it was enough but im told by people who know its plenty. the rest between is very important plus you use body parts indirectly on other days. the best advice ive been given is give whichever routine you start a fair chance 8-12 weeks before you write it off.

Yeah good advice m8, I feel better now just wanted some reassurance.

Iv made fairly good gains off a heavy full body workout so the next 12 weeks will be interesting. Watch this space

    Thanks again bud

I've done the same, gone from a fairly high volume variation of bill starr's full body to the tony starks 4 day split that's on here. Did chest and bi's yesterday and it felt really wierd not to be doing anything else. Have legs today and I'm sure I'll get the same feeling... I'm so used to benching after squats :)

Felt good after yesterday's workout though so I think it's going to work pretty well for me. *fingers.crossed*

ALweays seems weird not having all over pump, but it is the way forward.

You'll end up pushing it so hard you'll not want to do that muscle for a week

Well splits work for some but I've made good gains going back to a full body.

I recover better from 3x fullbody better that 3day split at a higher intensity.

The fact that's its has been working great does make me wonder why you changed.

I think some people assume full bodys are just for absolute beginners and they should move onto more intense training programs as soon as possible, but that's simply not the case.

Good luck with the split tho, do you have a journal in Progress Journal section?

Decided to move to split because on a full body workout (3 x 10 on each excercise),the workout lasted 1 1/2 - 2 1/2 hours + most days and when I introduced bentover rows and deadlifts into my routine a few weeks back it got too much.

My first night of the split last night only lasted an hour and i had more power and was able to lift heavier weights albeit with slightly shorter reps (3 x 8).

I wake up today and i have really good doms so my doubts have been quashed and i think this could be a good mass buliding program for me. I was only 11st to start with, but i had a bit of a belly so I started eating really well and started running. I weigh just under 10 1/2 st now. Gonna increase the food intake with this program now.

i think I will start a journal, gutted now that I didnt take a picture when I 1st started. Il post pics soon.

Thanks everyone Il keep you posted
