newbie wanting to do comps

alright guys,

i am new to this site - obviously you can tell that by the number of my posts!

I have been bodybuilding for about 18 months now and want to do a competition sort of the end of june time.

I have a few questions if u kind people could help me,

1) I have no idea of standards for first timer comp's, i am 5'7 tall and will be about 11 and a bit stone when i have approximately 5 or 6 % body fat. Is this to light?

2) For a fist timer like me is it better to enter at my wieght category, as a first timer or in an age specific group (i will be 21 by june)?

3) I live in west sussex and have no idea of competitions in that area, does anybody know of any during june time?

cheers for the help guys,

mark

    HI Mark - welcome

1)Its hard to tell without pics - weight doesnt mean much TBH. Firt Timers standard do vary - you do get some very good guys

2)If you are 21 this year you can enter as a Junior if you prefer. Weight catagory doesnt matter in Junior or first timer cats

    3) See the sticky in this forum

you might want to go for the BNBF southern July 4th if you're natural http://www.bnbf.co.uk/events.html

Other southern ones are EFBB South East in Hayes Middx on May 9th, but thats probably too soon?

Nabba south is April 3rd so you're def too late for that one.

    cheers for that guys,

I think i will enter the bnbf one in july. This may however be an 'inconvienient'date so the gravesend classic may be good for me, if i can enter it cos i dont live anywhere near gravesend.

    Hi MarkH,
Good to see you are thinking of competing. I did my first show 11 months ago at the NABBA S.E as a first timer. At 5'5" I was about 77kgs but don't get caught up with the whole weight thing. I weighed myself the day after the contest for the first time in 12 weeks. Go purely by the mirror and get a competent competitor to check you out from time to time. I was up against guys weighing 20kgs more but i still won. It's all about condition, symetry and balance, come in sharp and it's in the bag. Look in the latest edition of Beef as it has all of the show dates for the coming season. If you need any advice post me on this site

    Regards,
