Depends on your lifestyle.
To be honest, I would probably do the same as you, probably a week before holiday, just go gym, do light weight excercises, eat very low carbs and just stick to protein and fat. I wouldnt cancel carbs out completely, just once for breakfast and another ppwo. Some people most probably wouldnt advocate this but damn, I too would get paranoid about putting on a the tiniest bit of fat, especially as you would be looking real good and happy with yourself.
