I appreciate you consulting me, but please edit your post so that it's not addressed to me exclusively.

Depends if you're trying to bulk or cut, there are a couple of answers that spring to mind.

If you want to be cut, eat less
If you want to bulk, keep eating.

    Simple.

Tyson u seem to run into problems and panic a lot like myself. I'll tell u wot to do, Focus on fat if its really bothering u that much, reduce ur cals down and do some cardio, continue weights too. Once the fat starts shifting slowly re introduce more cals into ur diet but Clean cals, and carry on training, try to do a little cardio too if u can. Unfortunately wen ur bulking the fat will come, u can reduce the fat coming on by eating smartly and u can stop it from coming by halting ur growth. Simple. Eat smart and stay focused.

Maybe start tapering your carbs later in the day. You still want to eat carbs early in the day, and around your workout, but after 4-6pm cut your carb intake back. Substitute with fibrous vegetables and keep your protein up.

If u never had a flat stomach it doesnt matter, the only way to flatten itwithout steroids is to control ur diet and cardio, NOTHING ELSE!

I think it's a matter of being realistic about what is achievable within the context of your entire lifestyle.

I have had a very similar problem-always had a bit of a gut even when underweight. I did manage to solve this problem a few years ago, but did it by becoming a vegan, NEVER eating cheatmeals and training 3-4 hours a day (2 hours weights, 1-2 hours cardio, half an hour of ab exercises per day 5 days a week). Vastly overtraining by today's standards, but I'm telling you it worked. Went from the spare tyre to having abs that competitive bodybuilders envied.

the problem of course is that this is completely unsustainable if you want to have any sort of career or life. In my late 30s, I don't have the time to do this (or frankly the desire). Nor, quite reasonably, is the missus prepared to eat lentils and rice and sit in the house while I do ab crunches. And I like a pint-or 10.

So, I have to accept that while I still make the gym 5 times a week, I'm never gonna look like that again. I just try and concentrate on making sure the top half of my torso is bigger than the bottom half. I think for a lot of us, a realistic goal is just to look like we lift weights-but it all depends on how much of your life you are prepared to devote to this.

    Abs, oh Abs.

When there is an obsession about losing the fat around the stomach do people automatically revert to doing countless hours of ab work.

    A little Biology 101.

Abs are muscles, if you work on them, they grow. Behind your abs is a layer of fat and so too in front. Now if you work your abs everyday, firstly your are not giving them enough time to heal (you wouldn't do your biceps everyday would you). Secondly, if you were letting them grow, what do you think happens to your stomach....it bloats out becaue the muscle is forcing the fat forward.

You do need to excercise the abs and obliques, but to get that 6 pack (8 infact) you need to diet correctly. As mentioned in some of these threads, cut down on your carb intake later in the day.

Training for 3 hours a day won't help either. 1 hr for weights is enough and 30-40 mins cardio and split it into 4 days. Remember, time is a healer and a stripper....[:0]

i understand franky and others, but i dont accept to loose fat while gainig muscle, all im concerd about is that if i have body fat of 20 % and i want to cut, can i by lowering carbs, doing cardio 3 times a week very lightly to be able to get to 8 % bodyfat after a few months. it s just i never had a flat belly before even when i had a small belly i couldnt get rid of it though iwas eating 3 times a day adn doing jogging, can people get a lean body by eating 3 times a day with a body fat of 20% and he wantsd to reduce it to 10% can that be done.

so do u see why im worring, i alway dreamt of a lean body
