RE: question about DOM and training
Not sure if what you have read (ie working through pain) was related to something slightly different, but you certainly shouldn't be training muscle groups suffering with doms.
Active recovery is a little different, light, gentle exercise when you're suffering with doms can actually help apparently. But lifting heavy weight with doms.. - defintely not.
you could do a substitute Leg Day tonight with leg exercises you are sure of. You're probably wise to be sure of deadlift form.. - and yes - good idea to be sure of squatting form too... - although there is plenty of info around on form.. - so maybe you could read up a bit and just have a Squat, Leg Press, Calf Raise session..
