Bought some dvds off amazon yesterday, not realising however that they are region 1 format ggrrrr. Anyone know if these will play on the xbox 360 or laptop etc?

They will on the laptop but you will have to change your region setting from region2 then back again if you play a region 2 disc again. You can only do this 5 times then it will lock to the last region. Get a cheap dvd that can be hacked to play all regions.

May be worth reading whether something like Alcohol 120%, Daemon Tools or Power ISO could offer a solution.

You should be able to play them with your laptop, mate. Most laptops now are fitted with multi-region dvd readers. You should even be able to play them with your home dvd player. You'll just need to find the hack/unlock code designated to your particular player to make it region 0, ie non-region specific. I'm not sure if we can past links to outside website that offer lists of codes, however, if you do a simple google search on "dvd player codes" a load of results will come up. Find the code for your machine (make and model) and put it in using the machine's remote control. Your DVD player should then be able to read DVDs from any region. I'm I'm not familiar with Xbox.
