reheating rice?

As title folks ,

for those who cook their rice in bulk and spread it out over the day , How do you go about reheating it again to eat it safely? Or do you normally eat it cold?

When am out and about and carry my meals with me for the day I normally eat it cold due to worrying about getting sick from reheating it  , So thought I would ask what do you guys do?.

An option is buying microwavable  rice but for cost effective surely not many do this option?.

cheers

If I want my food hot I'll reheat it, usually a couple of minutes in the microwave ensuring it's piping hot through. Little finger through the middle usually tells me if it is or not. Ha.

low temperature  on the microwave?. Do you do this with rice too?.

I was wanting to ideally buy my rice in  bulk and cook it in the saucepan  for the full day ahead the night before and re heat it when it comes to it .

It's not how you reheat rice that's the issue it's how quickly you cool it and store it.

Never really take notice of the temp mate. Just nuke it for 2 minutes and ensure it's piping hot. Like Kaneda says though, which I probably should have mentioned; ensure it's cooled at room temp and then kept in fridge within 2 hours. You don't want to get sick off rice, trust me.

I don't eat rice anymore, well maybe once or twice a year at most.

However when i did eat rice i used to cook a large amount and have it over 5-6 days, it ALWAYS stayed in the saucepan in which i cooked it and was left in the kitchen at room temperature and NEVER once did i get ill let alone food poisoning.

I think the dangers of eating old rice is over done, or i was just very lucky.

You used to eat rice, left out, at room temperature, that was 6 days old? Absolute stomach of steel.

As stated, it's the cooling and storage which counts here.

Just get it in the sieve under cold water then in the fridge asap.

I cook a weeks worth of rice, let it cool and stick it in the fridge. You wouldn't have any issues at all reheating it in the microwave. Reheat for about 1:30 to 2:00 min on full power and you're good to go.

To mix things up I also like to reheat mine in a non-sticky pan and add a bit of salsa to it. Goes lovely with the chicken. But don't worry at all about reheating rice, I've done it for years and never had any issues.

the best way to reheat rice is to put it in a container with a lid and a small amount of water (like in ready meals), this will re-steam it a bit.

It's so easy to cook rice I just cook it fresh every day.   I'm chinese so I'm kind of a snob about stuff like Uncle ben's.  Isn't that boil in the bag stuff?  Seems over priced and the box is so small I always thought it was for people who eat rice like once a month or something,  I usually buy a 10kg bag of fragrant rice from china town or any asian supermarket.
I've seen people boil rice then drain it... Is that common?  I dunno if it keeps longer if you cook it that way, but I always do it in one of those electric rice cookers.  You can steam it properly in a saucepan too but it's pretty easy to burn the bottom if you're absent minded.  The rice just has a way better texture if you steam it imo.
Rice you can just blast in a microwave to reheat, but freshly cooked rice is so much better.  Even after a couple of hours it goes clumpy and loses the proper feeling.  That's why asian people  invented fried rice.  It's supposed to be a leftovers dish.

I always manage to prpare too much rice so usually have to keep some in the fridge.
I reheat it in the microwave no problem.

i've never got sick from reheating rice pal. Reheat in microwave is absolutely fine. I'd say that is better than the microwave packs as they are pre cooked also and who knows how long stored and with what added.

It can go a little dry but all you need to do is add a tiny bit of water. Maybe a tablespoon sprinkled over it.
