rented flat market birmingham

what a pain in the **** this is. me and a mate are lookin to move into the city centre to rent for 9 months or so. we both work there and pay through the nose to commute everyday. we have the ability to save to buy and rent at the same time so thought lets live the inner city life for 9 months.
cant believe how crazy the city renting market is. seen 5 places now and everyone we make offers on the following day have already gone.
estate agents are saying if flats are on the market for more than 1 day we start to worry and suggest the landlord reduce their rent.
were looking about £800 a month.
saw one yesterday, got back to the office and called the bloke to say were interested and he says 'sorry mate someone called up when you left and put an offer in without even viewing it'
madness
anywhere else in the country like it?

My ex used to live in Brum near the reservoir and it was a fcking ****e hole lol.

Anyways I have never had any problem with flats in the UK maybe you are just in that purple price range where everyone is shooting for so they get snapped up. Try going up to a grand. Also a lot of estate agents are ****s and try it on to bid the price up.

Geneva is however FCKING horrendous let me tell you how it work.

Limited amounts of space means housing premiums as a result there will be regularly queues of 30/40 people to view a flat. Even ****ty flats will garner interested so you trudge along with you file which is basically a copy of your CV, Bank statements, Contract showing how much you earn, plus your "attestation non pursuite" (basically a credit check done monthly) and a bones to the wall personal statement about your hobbies background, religion sex, age and marital status. All in French and English.

If you like the flat you have to hand in the file to the letting agency who then look at them in the following order:

    Married Couple Kids
    Unmarried Couple Kids
    Married Couple
    Couple
    Single Female ( Or multiples)
    Single guy

Great you think I am married I have a wife and two kids I am sitting pretty...

Oh no my friend you only earn £200k a year as your household income and couple B with one kid who already rent one flat earn £210k a year ( I sht you not on this) get the property.

Then it all goes back to the beginning and you have to start again but with the added point that Couple B now has an official let from a landlord so as a result they then illegally or Legally Sublet their original apartment for a sizeable profit and this rise rents even more and perpetuate the cycle endlessly.

As a single guy in short you are screwed and tossed out with the garbage like your favourite early 90s porn star.

    The End

A lot of estate agents run fake ads to get a list of current prospect tenants for properties that other agents are advertising, and churn these ads round daily, as they buy blocks of advertising space, not per property advertised.  Most of them want their already greasy palms greased even more.

estate and recruitment agents are the biggest tossers going.

Ras  - you think Geneva's expensive, try Zurich bro.  :)

Its a **** load cheaper for rent in terms of what you actually get for the money. In fact I think overall its cheaper ime as its a bigger student populace. Zurich is a cool place for Switzerland.  Geneva just sucks c0ck!!
