It was the tug of war event - the competitors were matched one on one against each other and then the winner (after a best of 3) went through to the semi-final. Then the winner to the final... and you get the picture

Some people didn't like the event but I thought it was interesting that they were going head-to-head. One of the guys (Ali I think?) very nearly lost it after Jimmy beat him - squaring upto him, but nothing came of it.

Should be posting my photos late tonight or tomorrow morning.

Ahhh - now I see - thanks. Not the kind of thing I like. Hate all those head to head things , scottich wrestling, pole push, etc. Makes it a bit of a lottery. Think they should stick to the good old way of the guy with the most points at the end is the winner. If they want one on one action go watch some boxing, UFC, etc.(although sounds like you nearly got some action.) This is strongman after all not a tug-o-war competition!!!

Event 6: Back to back tug of war
    The draw for this event goes on the placing after 5 events. For example the first round would be 1st place v 7th place (A), 2nd v 8th (B), 3rd v 5th (C), 4th v 6th (D),
Second round A v C, B v D with the winner of each second round match’s meeting in the final.
In the event of any of the top 8 competitors not competing in the last event 9th place will compete. The each round will be the best of three pulls.

The points of this event will be
    First round loser; 2½ points
    Second round loser 5½ points
Runner up (2nd place) 7 points
    Winner (1st place) 8 points

This is an event and the points help decide who won the England’s ultimate strongest man 2006.

An event like any of the others that day.

    semi-finals

A: Jimmy Marku v Dave Meer
    B: Simon R Flint v Mark Lawson

    final
Dave Meer v Simon R Flint

    winner was Simon R Flint

As for this event its my FAV man on man event there is:

Yeh, I went there, Was my 1st strongman competition i went see IRL(this was where i got most of my sun-burn from:P), It was pretty good. N it was funny when ali sqaured up 2 jimmy when jimmy won (n i dont think jimmy would of had a problem with him anyway concidering hes a door supervisor), cuz ali was so happy when ali won the 1st time, but the second time jimmy won, and then won the last 1. The tug of war was kinda kool as i wasnt expecting them to have that down to be 1 of the events.

Jimmy also gave his t-shirt to a some guy from the crowd, because the guy offered him £40 for his shirt which was going to charity, and 2 b signed and 2 have a photo with him.

I was suprised that simon flint and a few others(forgot there names) when they couldnt even do 1 sqaut rep (280kg)

Also 1 of the guys forfitted after the truck pull because he was ill(forgot who it was tho), because of the weather and the dehydration, so he pulled out, So overtall it was a good day out.

Oh that's not as bad - thought it was like they did at the Met-rx British last year where all previous points were cancelled and winner took all. Still not a fan of the head to head events though - but each to their own - looked like a good comp with some nice kit though..

    Cheers
