"ripping" as you put it is definitely diet intensive, and unless you are genetically super gifted, you will want to do a decent amount of cardio. I would suggest looking at the diet forums and use the info there to evaluate your diet, see how you can make it cleaner. Also, cardio will help you a lot. When I'm doing hardcore cutting for the summer I usually do 1hr + of cardio in the morning 6 days a week, then I hit the weights in the afternoon to evening.
How much cardio is right for you depends on your current stats and how long you can last (+ keep your sanity). Generally speaking, you probably won't end up doing too much :)
