road charges

just been talking to my brother about the road charges that could be coming into force in a few years time where you get charged per mile you drive

personnally i dont think it will come in force becuase it will drive charges up on everything from bread to furniture any fool can see its goin to destroy the countrys industy plus if anyone works on the road it will effect you big time as far as i can see i know for a fact it will put me out the job

where do you people stand on this will it effect your job do you agree with it or not?

Personally I'd like to see some categorical evidence that reducing the number of cars on the road will do anything for climate change, which is the ultimate goal, until then, this continuation of "green taxes" makes me sick to the bone.

We already pay through the nose in other taxes so we can drive, so they can fcuk off as far as I am concerned.

I only have a very little knowledge of the proposed plans around our way but, the M60 ring road and major trunk roads will be chargeable during peak times ie 7-9am and 4-6pm(or thereabouts) other times I`m not so sure but could be a big problem as I have to go out onto the A6 as it`s the only way out.
Workwise I`ll probably have to arrive at my destination before 7am and leave after 6pm, any travelling in between I don`t know but I`m led to believe if a charge is incurable it may be at a reduced rate, just have to wait and see.

Presumably we’ll have no road tax discs to buy and petrol will be about 20-30p per litre, or are the Govn proposing to add it on top of the taxes already paid.
If it does come into force I see working hours becoming more varied from the usually 9-5. However, I feel lorry drivers as a prime example will be screwed!

exactly in my view its goin put so many people out of work plus the only way the can track how many miles we do is if they put a satelite tracker in your vehicle and i expect we have to pay to have that fitted

it may solve traffic congestion but it will put the unemployment up higher
